ENGLISH BRUNSWICK RIFLE M1837 BAYONET

This bayonet for the Brunswick military rifle M1837. These are kind of a mix between the saber bayonet and an artillery short sword. They have the double edged wide blade like the short swords have but it locks in place on the end of the gun like a saber bayonet. This one has an arsenal stamp at the end of the blade to go along with the 1855 production date. The handle is made of cast brass. The original retainer spring intact and fully functional. This is a very nice and very fierce looking Civil War era saber bayonet.
