Two Memorial Books of a Member of the 37th PA. Volunteer Infantry and the Duquesne Post No. 259 GAR Grand Army of the Republic. The memorial books are named to Edward Able who served bravely with the 37th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment and was injured by a fall while in the performance of his duties. An excerpt from one of the memorials books "Our very worthy, esteemed and beloved Adjutant, Comrade Edward Abel, was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., July 25th, 1842, and died in his home, 1842 Clark Street exten-sion, after an illness of about two weeks, September 18th, 1917, aged 75 years, 1 month and 23 days.
